Staples Case Study
Staples
Group company Corporate Express relied on marketingunity to streamline a major Cable and Wireless Rebrand.
When Corporate Express (now part of Staples) needed to manage a rebrand for major client
Cable and Wireless they knew which software would ensure a fast and successful result.
The Cable & Wireless worldwide re-brand in 2006 involved handling 3000 orders for personalised corporate stationery in 20 days, including printing and delivery.
Carrying responsibility for the project, Terry Lingwood, then Studio and E-Commerce manager at Corporate Express, commented
, "We do a lot of work like this, so we know the ropes. What was different with this one was the style of the new business cards which had been developed
between the customer and their agency. Each user was allowed to select from six background colours
and could have one of eight optional images beside the Cable and Wireless logo."
"We looked at a number of solutions, but went with marketingunity because it can handle complex variable data rules
and their backup is first rate".
A key factor in this project, as with most re-brands, was that the ordering process had to be simple, with as few steps as possible.
Lingwood said, "The inbuilt flexibility of marketingunity and the marketingunity team's innovative approach meant
that they were able to create a 'system-within-a-system' for the period of the re-brand, allowing our existing customers
to use the system as usual whilst the C&W orders gushed in".
Corporate Express used marketingunity for over five years, supporting many blue-chip customers including JP Morgan and Vodafone.
Lingwood concluded, "We've found marketingunity to be a flexible and efficient tool for our business.
When a job is set up we just watch the orders roll in and the system deliver print-ready artwork
direct to our nominated printers. All we do is create the templates and process the invoices!"
"With a corporate re-brand you know you are going to get a flood of orders and the key to being cost effective
is an efficient process and a robust system - exactly what we get from marketingunity".
